At the edge of a forest, amid tall pines and firs that stretch back to beautiful
year-around Althouse Creek sits the brand new home of your dreams.
How do we know? Because we built it to fulfill our dreams.
We have lived in Southern Oregon for more than 30 years, and during those years we thought always of retiring to that ideal property, part meadow, part forest with a year-around rushing stream that would lull us to sleep at night. Last year we found it in Cave Junction, Oregon, http://www.cavejunction.com/cavejunction/tour_map.shtml.

Nearing retirement age, we bought it and designed and built the home we have always dreamed of retiring in.

We spared no expense, because you don't when you're building a dream. The home is definitely GREEN with an energy efficient passive solar design by the nationally award winning Sunterra Design of Bend, Oregon.

Just as we completed construction and were ready to move in, family issues arose that require us to remain  in Medford. Reluctantly, we offer our dream home to you for only $389,000.00, far below its value. Call or email with questions, or to arrange a private showing.
This 2 plus acre parcel is nearly level with a very slight slope toward the creek.

1611 Square feet, 2 bedroom, library (or 3rd bdrm), 2 bath with 9, 10, 11 and 14 foot ceilings. Master suite has huge walk-in closet. Great Room has custom built-in entertainment center with granite top. Library has hand shaped red oak hard wood flooring and bulit-in custom computer desk with red oak book shelves and granite counter. Dining, Laundry, Pantry, Garage with Shop area.

Granite Counters throughout, baths, kitchen, library, even in the laundry. Energy efficient Passive Solar design. Tile floors over thermal mass of concrete and 120 cubic yards of rock. Carpeted bedrooms.

Custom cherry finished oak cabinets, stainless steel appliances, energy efficient heat pump.

RV parking complete with power, water and sewer.

The rear deck looks out over meadow and forest toward the stream.

Now let's take a look at a few of the features inside.

The glass front doors feature a hand eched forest scene and the foyer has a 14 foot barrel roll ceiling.

The Great Room has an 11 foot ceiling and looks to the Solar South toward the meadow and creek bed as well as to the deck and forest in the rear.

The kitchen features granite countertops, stainless steel range, microwave, dishwasher and double-door refrigerator with icemaker.

The dining area chandelier is oil rubbed brass, as are all the lighting and sink fixtures in the home.

Bring your fishing pole and your gold pan. Althouse Creek became the center of the gold rush in Southern Oregon in the 1850's. Bigger than a chicken egg, the largest gold nugget ever found was taken from Althouse Creek in 1859. It weighed more than 17 pounds! There is still placer gold in the stream today.

There is even a fresh water pond adjacent to the creek near an old cabin thought to have once housed a miner. It could be your storage area, shop or hobby center, or a playhouse for the little people.

The floor to ceiling south facing windows heat the home during 3 seasons, while the engineered deep overhang protects from summer sun.

Built in entertainment center is prewired for satellite service.

Attention to detail throughout this home make it truly unique, like this vessel sink in the guest bathroom, with a faucet made to look like an antique pump.

Even the laundry sink sits on a granite countertop.

There isn't space enough to show you the herd of 7 or 8 deer (one doe is albino) that wanders across  the property a couple of times each day to the creek, or the flock of wild turkeys we see a couple of days each week. Our terrier will miss the little red fox he has come nose to nose with twice. We'll all miss the squirrels, the birds and even the little blue bellied lizards and an occational salamander.

The property is located in the middle of an outdoor paradise. Located on a stream, it is only minutes away from two rivers, a dozen other streams, several lakes, and more. It is only 30 minutes from the Oregon Caves National Monument: http://www.nps.gov/archive/orca/home.html

It is minutes away from the Great Cats World Park (http://greatcatsworldpark.com/cmsj/), the Takilma Treehouse Institute and Hotel and many other attractions. Hike, fish or camp in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. The Oregon/California coast is just 50 miles away.

We hope that you will love this home and property the way we do. It truly is a dream come true.
